Manual to Geerts Utopia Info

NOTE: A kingdom or province is often referred in this manual as victim. This does not mean that all provinces and kingdoms are victims of me or my site and nothing can be claimed, based on this use of the word victim.

Setup of Geerts Utopia Info

In this part I will tell how Utopia Info is setup. How the pages are linked to each other.
The Lists
The lists are nothing more than a result from a search query. Normally it is a top networth/land/honor of the whole world, but with the Query Submitter you can make your search better fit to your needs.
The List pages always consist of a title, which says what kind of lists it is, a query submitter, to make a query (A query is a search string), an index which shows on what page you are and how many search results there are and the lists itself.
In the Title you can find the servers name, the age if you are searching for provinces or kingdoms and on what you order (ie. land or networth).
The Query Submitter is used to make a search string, comforting your needs. This will be explained later on.
The list itself has 6 major headers and (depending on whether dealing with a kingdom or province) 10 or 11 minor headers. The major headers are 'General Info', 'Networth', 'Land', 'Netw/acre', 'Honor' and 'Days'. Networth, Land, Netw/Acre and Honor are each subdivided by its value and the change. The Change is over a certain period, pointed out by the 'Days' column. Under the General Info header you get to know the number, the name and (if you are dealing with provinces) the race of your victim. The number doesn't tell much, other than that you have a reference on what page you are. The name is clickable, as well as the location of your victim. When you click the name, than you will open the Zoomed list.
The zoomed lists
The zoomed list is a better view on your victim. You will get to see a graph of your victims history, as well as a history log. The graph is not very useful if you are looking for a target, but does tell something about someone's growth. The Growth Log is rather useful because here you can see if your victim is an attacker or an explorer. It is also possible to get out the history log if your victim is inactive and if he might have his armies out. How you can find this will be explained later in the manual.
When you have zoomed in to a kingdom then you get also a list of provinces that are in that kingdom. When clicking on the name of a province will bring you to his zoomed list, where you get again a graph and a history log.
When you are done with the zoomed list, than you can go back to your last search result by clicking the link on top of the zoomed list. This link will remember your last search result, even if you go back and forth between kingdoms and provinces.

How to gather data

Gathering data is nothing more than finding a nice victim. You can do this primarily by using the Query submitter, which you can find at the top lists, but also at the Target Finder under Tools.
Query Submitter
The Query submitter lets you make a search query, just as you like it to be. You have several options here.
At the left of the query submitter you can set your conditions. Here you set between what networth values, land values etc. your victim has to be. If you leave fields open, then no minimum/maximum is used for the search result. You can specify networth, land, networth/acre, honor and island range.
On the top right you can specify on what you want to order. You can order by networth, land, networth/acre, honor and, when looking at provinces, race. You can either do it ASCending (from bottom to top) as DESCending (from top to bottom). You can also specify whether you want it to order by size (biggest first) or by growth (most gain first). If you specify growth, than the period field will tell over what period you will measure. The period field also tells what period the change fields in the list will have. So an order by clause of: "Networth, Size, 1 year, DESC", will give the most powerful provinces on top and shows the change in networth, land, netw/acre and honor in 1 year.
At the middle right there is an options strip. Here you can specify the history of the change field, the range of the pages, the server, the age, the type and the date.
The history is standard set to 1. If the history is set on an other number, ie 4, then 4 history points will be showed in the change field of the list. This can be useful when searching for inactives and victims who have armies out.
The range of a page is the number of results shown on one page. This is standard set to 100, but can be set from 10 to 200. The server is either the World of Legends server, The tournament server or Genesis. The age is standard set to the last age of the specified server, but also older ages can be shown. The type tells you whether to search for provinces or kingdoms and the date tells at what time in history it should be. The date is standard the last date.
If you are searching for provinces, than you can specify the extra options. The extra options are: "inactives" and "armies out". Utopia Info than tries to give all provinces who are inactive/ have armies out. This only is an assumption. It might be that Utopia Info finds a non-inactive for instance. It might also be that Utopia Info finds not all inactives. You might also want to search for inactives yourself by using the 'history' field. If you have improvements to the inactive finder, or the armies out finder, than you can discuss it at the forum.
Search tool
The search tool is primarily used to find your own province/kingdom or that form a friend. Searching for a kingdom goes quite easily: Fill in the kingdom and island numbers, pick your server and age and it will give you the kingdom. When using the province finder you have to fill in a name. It might happen that you don't know anymore exactly the name. If this happens then you can use search tokens. Search tokens are special characters that count as 1 or more jokers. The _ search token stands for 1 character which might be any character. The % search token stands for any amount of characters, even 0. The province search will give you up to 200 search results.
Graph creating
With the graph creating tool you might make compare graphs of you and your friends. This is going quite straightforward and because I am tired of writing this bunch of text (which I am not very good at) I will leave it to your inspiration full brains to learn how to use it. It is not a major part of Utopia Info.

Organizing Data

There is one tool we didn't talk about. It is the Compare Tool.
Compare Tool
On many places on the site you will find "C+". This does not refer to a programming language, but it stands for "Add to Compare tool". When you click these two letters, then the province or kingdom will be added to the compare tool. The compare tool might have 6 different kingdoms and provinces from all servers. Different servers are pointed out by different colors. A victim on WoL is indicated by a green color, a victim on genesis is indicated by a blue color and a victim on the tournament server is indicated by a red color.
When you have added a victim to the compare tool, then you can go easily to his zoomed list by clicking on its name. When you want to delete a victim, then you click the three letters "del" (from delete) at the right of the name. When you are looking in other zoomed list, than your victim will be shown in the graph, so you can compare the growth history of both victims.
This is the manual to Utopia Info. Quite a read, but all is explained now (I hope).
